Description
Social media is the face of advancing digitalisation and opens up new spheres of fundamental rights activity. As diverse as the opportunities are, the risks of revealing personal information are just as great. After all, the internet never forgets.

Civil servants, as representatives of state authority, are particularly affected: their private use of social media can become a balancing act between their status as holders of fundamental rights and their duties under civil service law. This work addresses the question of how the duties of civil servants can be applied in conformity with the constitution in the context of social media, so as to defuse the doctrinal tensions with civil servants' entitlement to fundamental rights.
