For some time now, the debate on the protection of the climate system has also been played out in the courts. This study examines the prospects of success of such claims before the German civil courts under German law. The focus of this work lies on the discussion of potential claims for injunctive relief against future interferences with the climate system. Based on this, related claims for the implementation of protective measures, reimbursement of the costs of such protective measures, as well as for damages and compensation are examined. The discussion is based on and evaluates essential findings and examples provided by climate science.
