Description
This conference proceedings volume brings together contributions from the 14th Young Labour Law Conference, which took place from 10 to 12 July 2025 at the University of Leipzig. The conference focused on the general theme of 'Challenges of Transformation for Labour Law'. Alongside the keynote speech delivered by Inken Gallner, President of the Federal Labour Court, the volume features contributions by young academics analysing current transformation processes in labour law from various perspectives.
The contributions focus on the profound changes to which labour law is being subjected as a result of advancing digitalisation, among other things. The introduction of artificial intelligence into work processes plays a special role here, raising new legal questions with regard to co-determination. Ongoing European integration is also examined as a structural challenge for national labour law, including in relation to preliminary ruling proceedings in labour courts, work-life balance and pay transparency.
Finally, the conference took place against the backdrop of political developments and the erosion of liberal democracy. This raises the question of whether and to what extent labour law can respond to this, and what instruments it has at its disposal. The conference proceedings address this issue, documenting it in a special way through the written version of the keynote speaker's presentation.
This publication contributes to the academic debate on the current and future transformation requirements of labour law, and is intended for researchers, teachers and advanced students specialising in labour law, as well as those with an interest in the subject more broadly.
With contributions by
Christoph Boës | Mag. André Flatscher | Mag. Conrad Greiner, LL.M. | Akad. Rat a.Z. Dr. Ansgar Kalle | Mag. Hanna Pavicic | Ludwig Stepper | Mag. Dr. Johannes Warter | Anne Zeilmann
