Around 85 years ago, nurses were actively involved in the Nazi ‘euthanasia’ programme. Drawing on witness statements from the Hadamar main trial file of 1947, the author of this volume identifies learning opportunities and develops a teaching and learning concept for generalist nursing education. Rather than focusing on the moral condemnation of the actions taken at that time, the concept encourages nursing students to recognise the parallels between history and their own professional, personal and social responsibilities. Historical and political education serves as a tool for fostering an ethically responsible professional attitude and reinforcing political decision-making within the nursing profession.
