Description
South Africa is one of the countries most affected by HIV/AIDS in the world, the epidemic dramatically impacting all spheres of society. At the same time, South Africa is the economic locomotive of the continent and a great hope for the future. Are Public Private Partnerships a promising strategy? Which are the conditions that influence their implementation? To find answers to these questions, factors on the international, the national and the project level have been evaluated and ranked. The analysis of the interdependence of these levels generates starting points from which to more effectively tap the potential of PPPs in the struggle against AIDS in South Africa. The insights derived from the analysis offer a roadmap for strategy development in other African countries and in regions with newly emerging epidemics, for example in Eastern Europe, China or India.
