The work deals with a subject that employs the jurisprudential as well as the political science debate for several decades, and yet always raises new questions and makes new answers needed: What exactly does it mean when the German migration policy or the relevant law requires the "integration" into German society of those that are (initially) perceived as standing outside of German society?
The importance of the issue has not decreased but even increased the contrary in the recent past such as the keywords parallel societies, threat of Islamists, Islamic religious education or headscarf debate show. About a historically based analysis with the beginning of the migration of the first guest workers different heterogeneity criteria of German integration policy are elaborated and their respective influence on legislative and jurisprudence is examined.
