Integration Through Law and the European Union

‘Integration through crises’ has shaped European integration for years. However, this would not be possible without the binding nature of European law. Based on the theoretical approach of ‘integration through law’, this volume offers both political and legal perspectives to enable a better understanding of European integration processes. Developments in the field of asylum and during the Covid pandemic are examined, as is the significance of European case law in relation to fundamental freedoms and the rule of law. Other contributions focus on the EU's budgetary policy under the guiding principle of ‘integration through financing’.
