International Forum for Schenkerian Research
Description
Heinrich Schenker (1868–1935) is probably the most important and influential music theorist of the 20th century. His “Schichtenlehre” sees harmony and counterpoint as interdependent variables. In doing so, it deciphers both local and global structures of tonal music. Schenker's life and work have mainly been researched in English-speaking countries; since around 2000, however, more and more contributions to Schenker research have been published in other language areas. The book series “International Forum for Schenkerian Research” (IFSR) reflects current Schenkerian research in all its regional, methodological and thematic diversity. Its first volume contains articles by international authors on the topics of theory, analysis and history.
