Approximately four weeks after violent conflict had broken out in Libya as part of the Arab Spring rebellion, the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 1973. This monograph aims to assess the conduct of both the UN Security Council and the countries involved in the subsequent military intervention in Libya from the perspective of the catholic ethic of peace. In that respect, the book first contextualizes the events and then, on a normative level, offers a benchmark for the protection of innocent people which stems from that traditional catholic ethic. Finally, it evaluates the military intervention in Libya in an argumentative and sophisticated manner.
