Islamisches Recht, Scharia und Ethik

The relationship of Sharia to secular law, human rights, gender roles and ethical issues of thought and action has been the focus of media, social and political attention for decades. By combining an in-depth understanding of pre-modern Islamic jurisprudence with modern legal and social sciences, the author proposes practical solutions to the problems that arise in Western democratic societies in relation to the relationship between Islamic law and Western legislation. Instead of seeing Islam exclusively as a disturbing factor, the author emphasises the possibility of interpreting Islam as part of the solution and sets the course for this.
