Like its predecessors, the 17th edition of this yearbook is a comprehensive compendium which provides its readers with an up-to-date overview of different aspects of federal and regional structures and politics. The 29 contributions its contains have been divided among the following sections:
A contribution by the EU commissioner, Günther Oettinger.
Reports on European countries (France, Italy, the UK, Belgium and Switzerland).
A report on a non-European country entitled “Coercive Federal Policies” in the US.
Regional and communal cooperation in Europe, for example in relation to the region comprising the Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino.
The European Union and European integration, for example the role of national parliaments in the EU.
In addition, eight further essays focus on the challenges posed by digitalisation in a multilevel system.
