The 24th edition of this yearbook is also a broad-based compendium that offers readers—primarily those in politics, administration, science, research, teaching and higher education, but also all others interested in this subject area—an up-to-date and summarised overview of various aspects of federal and regional structures and politics in 36 articles. The 2023 yearbook focuses on the topic of ‘crises in federalism’. It examines whether there is ‘competition for solutions’ or ‘collective crisis management’ in multi-level systems when dealing with crises and disasters—given the constitutional division of competences and resources at the various political and administrative levels.
