Description
In this work, the author offers an analysis in German of Japan's regional policy in Southeast Asia from the 1970s to the present, with a special focus on Japan's claim that it occupies the leading position in the region. On the basis of a discourse analysis of the change in Japan's concept of regional leadership and its desired regional order, case studies are employed to empirically analyse Japan's regional strategy to realise its leadership aims even against the challenge of China.
The book is aimed at political scientists and Japanologists working in the field of Japanese foreign policy or regional studies.
The author holds a doctorate in Japanology and teaches international relations in Tokyo.
