Description
Jean-Baptiste Lully (1632-1687) is the most important French composer of the 17th century, whose influence in Europe on composers such as Purcell, Bach and Handel was considerable, and his fifteen operas are a model for French music theatre that has continued to have an impact into the 20th century. The opera “Psyché” from 1678, with the libretto by Thomas Corneille, LWV 56, is presented here. Together with Molière, Lully created his famous “Comédies-ballets” as well as sacred music at the court of Louis XIV. This is the first historical-critical complete edition. In addition to the orchestral score, which also contains a printed libretto, the performance material and a piano reduction are also included.
