How must providers of video sharing platforms protect minors from harmful content? Although services such as YouTube are some of the most popular internet applications among children and youths, this question remained unanswered for a long time. The European legislator eliminated the causal legal loophole with the revision of the AVMSD in 2018, which was transposed into national law by the federal and state legislatures. The thesis focuses on the interaction with the platform privilege. On this basis, innovative instruments such as the participation of users are examined. They enable a practicable protection of minors without disproportionately burdening the interests of providers, content providers and advertisers.
