Description
Classism refers to a form of discrimination based on class or class affiliation and affects people on low incomes, workers and non-academics, among others. Classism continues to have a variety of effects at universities. The author examines how students from non-academic households experience class in the academic context and the role of intersectionality. She uses qualitative interviews to analyse important aspects of classism in higher education. The aim is to understand the impact of classism and other experiences of discrimination in the academic environment and the resulting agency of those affected.
