Koalitionsgrößen in hessischen kreisfreien Städten und Landkreisen

This study examines whether rational or institutional factors influence the size of coalitions. To this end, time-series analyses covering up to 75 years in Hessian independent towns and up to 49 years in Hessian districts were conducted. The research findings demonstrate that rational and institutional factors significantly influence the number of parties in a coalition. This work is aimed at political scientists conducting research on the local level in Germany and at politicians at the local level in Hesse.
