Kontrapunkt ‒ ewiggestrig oder unerlässlich?

Many music connoisseurs of music consider ‘counterpoint’ to be the epitome of intellectually stimulating and intelligently composed music. Others may think of it more as an antiquated compositional technique, which is taught using outdated methods. The 32 contributions to the report on the GMTH Congress in Bremen reveal, from different and complementary perspectives, the extent to which contrapuntal thinking remains valuable and fundamental to musical education and training today. Furthermore, they also highlight continuities and changes in the teaching of this subject, as well as contrapuntal ways of thinking and working in a diverse range of compositions.
