Description
Does the world, in its immanence, possess meaning? Starting from a critique of the transcendental-subjectivist inadequacy of the “cosmological turn” in Martin Heidegger’s thought—as emphasized by Eugen Fink—this work seeks to develop a realistic theory of cosmological meaningfulness through a fruitful engagement with Hans Jonas’s ontology of organic life. González Padilla is convinced that realism represents best contemporary philosophy, although its justifications must also integrate the transcendental dimension of human experience of truth. Only in this way can environmental ethics, value realism, and a theory of organic significance be conceived in terms of their binding nature.
