Landes- und Regionalgeschichte an der Universität Kiel

For 100 years, there has been a professorship for regional history at the Department of History at Kiel University, which has successfully worked for, with and in Schleswig-Holstein in research, teaching and transfer. During this remarkable period of time, not only have the faces of its appointed representatives changed, but the character of the professorship has also changed fundamentally. The book traces the path of the chair from the spirit of the German-Danish border struggle of the 1920s to the programme of reconciliation and partnership from the 1950s to the present day, as the professorship is comparatively apolitical. In all of this, there has always been a strong connection with the public.
