Description
How can we think about law and rule/domination? The study addresses this question, delving into the philosophical, historical, theological and sociological foundations of the development of modern thinking on law and rule, among other topics.
The study reconstructs and compares in an innovative way the understanding of law and rule of Bartolomé de Las Casas (1484-1566) with that of Max Weber (1864-1920). It provides a systematic, multidisciplinary view of the topic. The reader is guided through contemporary issues such as the relationship between legitimacy, ratio and rule or between natural law and positive law.
The study was awarded the Bartolomé de Las Casas Prize 2025.
