By linking governmentality and habitus-field theory, the publication makes a contribution to medical sociology, in the context of which the lack of fit of industrial-economic approaches in relation to the morphology of forms of care is illustrated using the example of the hospital. The publication thus illustrates the need for a changed organisational culture away from a divisional hierarchy towards flat process structures, which are important for horizontal control efforts. In terms of content, these approaches are located between general sociology, whereby aspects of the sociology of medicine and hospitals in particular are elaborated, as well as approaches from business administration, economics and nursing science.
