Legitimes Regieren in globaler Perspektive

This book examines the question of which sources of legitimacy regional organisations in the Global South refer to when they assume regulatory functions in their region. To this end, the author analyses the African Union, ASEAN and the League of Arab States, drawing on various theoretical strands as well as political science, sociological and cultural studies on the region. As a result, firstly, the diversity of sources of legitimacy beyond the OECD world is shown, secondly, their effect on the acceptance of these organisations is determined and, thirdly, possible reforms for both these regional organisations and for the global order as a whole are indicated.
