Criminal trials were a hallmark of the 1968 protests and left-wing terrorism of the 1970s. This volume examines the criminal defense attorneys often labeled as “left-wing lawyers,” who represented clients in protest and terrorism trials and were sometimes accused themselves. It analyzes their roles, practices, and the social context, shedding light on a central yet overlooked group of actors in the "red decade" within (legal) historical research.
