Description
How do mass media impact the policy cycle? And which functions do they fulfill for political actors? In spite of their high relevance these questions haven’t been analyzed comprehensively, yet.
Within the framework of mediatization of politics, Nayla Fawzi investigated media’s role in the complete decision-making process using energy policy as an example. She conducted a quantitative survey among actors from politics, administration, economy, civil society, science and media. The results show that media can play a significant role in all stages of the policy cycle – from agenda-setting, decision-making, implementation to evaluation – and therefore can affect policy-decisions.
Nayla Fawzi is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Communication Science and Media Research at Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich.

»Nayla Fawzi hat den Anspruch, die kommunikationswissenschaftliche Medialisierungsforschung mit der Politikfeldforschung zu verbinden, was der Autorin eindrucksvoll gelungen ist.«
