Details
This volume explores the multidimensional connections in the construction of media images of Africa. Due to the complexity of the topic, the book discusses it from different academic and practical perspectives. Besides theoretical approaches from media studies, cultural studies, sociology and anthropology, practical interventions by activists or artists are of importance. They enable a process of negotiation of meaning relating to theory to be carried out by providing reflexive insights into the dynamics of media productivity as well as advocating immediate societal change.
With contributions by
Julia Dittmann, Valerie Hänsch, Evelyn Wangui Gichuhi, Magdi el Gizouli, Nanna Heidenreich, Sissy Helff, Roukaya Kasenally, Johanna Rieß and Ivo Ritzer.
