Medienpluralismus im europäischen Mehrebenensystem

In light of growing pressure on the media in some of its Member States, the question arises to what extent the Union can shape media policy. The adoption of the European Media Freedom Act has reignited the debate on the opportunities and risks of Union regulation.
This work examines the European understanding of media pluralism and its legal anchoring in European law. What possibilities does the EU have to protect media pluralism, and what competence limits have to be observed? The work assesses Union instruments to safeguard pluralism and explores how the tension between internal market regulation and Member States’ cultural policies can be balanced.
