Information law must be understood as a relational concept. By applying a normative meta-perspective, this thesis provides a comprehensive analysis of the doctor-patient relationship concerning health-related information. The author analyses the highly complex legal framework that regulates the flow of medical information between a doctor and a patient from the point of view of information law. He therefore explores various areas of civil, criminal and public law and discusses underlying legislative considerations. In doing so, he focuses on conflicting interests regarding information - i.e. access and restriction rights - and addresses questions of informational justice and sovereignty. All in all, this thesis contributes to the theory of information law by emphasising structural and normative similarities between information law in general and health-related law in particular.
