Description

Today, tolerance for ambiguity is widely regarded as a key competency. This book reinterprets Else Frenkel-Brunswik’s ambiguity theorem from the field of authoritarianism research for the benefit of organisational development. It reconstructs the paradigm shift from ambiguity intolerance to its positive reinterpretation as a competency, highlights the limitations of individual competency models, and demonstrates that approaches to complexity management often leave the individual and the organisation disconnected. By bringing together perspectives from social psychology and organisational sociology, the study develops a framework for action and a prismatic model for dealing with organisational ambiguity in times of social transformation.
