Mehrsprachigkeit im Wissenschaftsdiskurs

International scientific and academic discourse is increasingly being conducted in English, which has advantages but also leads to problems. We thus aim to present some of the reasons for recent developments – which follow general trends but also have different causes from subject to subject – as well as show what opportunities pro-moting multilingual discourse in science and academia offers. In particular, we want to discuss whether and how multilingualism in Europe can be maintained or even promoted, using examples from German and French. The institutions responsible for this volume – the French-German University, the GERFLINT (Groupement d'Etudes et de Recherches pour le Français Langue internationale) pays germanophones research group and the European Academy of Otzenhausen – feel particularly committed to Europe and international discourse.
