Metaphern in Wissenschaftsfilmen

Since the advent of audiovisual media, science films have become an integral part of scientific communication. In the perception, evaluation and safeguarding of new scientific knowledge, metaphors take on a decisive role. In science films, they find a new expressiveness in language, images and sounds – they become multimodal. Metaphors change cinematic storytelling and allow new dimensions in knowledge transfer to emerge. This book explores three central questions: why metaphors play a special role in science films, what mechanism underlies metaphors, and what effect is constructed by them.
