Methoden der empirischen Politikwissenschaft

This textbook provides a systematic introduction to the foundations of empirical social research. Students are guided through the entire research process: from formulating research questions to operationalization and case selection through to data analysis. Special emphasis is placed on current major topics in empirical social research: causal inference, measurement, and research ethics and Open Science. Four recurrent cases illustrate practical implementation and are developed further in each chapter. The volume is aimed at teachers and students of political science and social sciences; it is suitable for methodology courses, exam preparation and as supplementary reading for final theses.
