Mikrorassismus

Jessica Kaire examines how micro-racism, everyday racism, and institutional discrimination in the German education system shape psychosocial development in BPoC children and adolescents. Racism is understood as a societal structure that produces belonging and hierarchises difference. Drawing on Critical Childhood Studies, childhood is seen as a phase where racist orders are active. The analysis shows that microaggressions operate through repetition and normalisation and are embedded in school practices. Consequences include stress, shame, impaired identity development, and educational disadvantage. The author concludes with anti-racist pedagogical and institutional recommendations.
