Whether we like it or not, in human interaction we all hide behind certain “masks”. These masks are always present and supposed to protect us. Actors have to overcome this protective mechanism in order to fill characters with real life. This is where the “hot chair” method gets used.
For this book five acting students from Alanus University were asked about their respective experiences with the “hot chair” method. Their reports provide information on the opportunities and risks of this method. Five potential types of risks and opportunities were identified. The book closes with recommendations for active users and thus offers an asset for every acting didactic or theater teacher.
