Musik und Tanz

Dance and dance music have always been an essential part of musical life. Focusing primarily on the musical and dance practices of European societies from the early modern period to the present day, this introduction brings together and illustrates the methodological approaches of various disciplines to the interplay between music and dance. In addition to examples of notation and visual material, this includes extracts from historical texts, which are presented here as examples and examined against the backdrop of discourses in the historiography of music and dance.
The introduction is aimed at students of music, dance and theatre studies, as well as those with an interest in cultural history.
