Description
The handbook provides a comprehensive overview of current questions in the study of practice-based musical interpretations and is aimed equally at scholars and musicians. After discussing the terminology, research questions and theories, sources (such as sound and video recordings, sheet music and reviews) and parameters (such as agogics, articulation, phrasing) are explained, and practical methods of investigation are presented. The results of the exemplary studies are examined for their practical applicability, critically scrutinised and then brought up for discussion. The prospects suggest that many possibilities of technical data analysis and its interpretation have not yet been fully explored.
