Forests are everywhere! Whether it's Little Red Riding Hood getting lost in the forest, the acid rain that has been killing the forest for decades or the youth hiking movement that experienced a renaissance due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 'German Forest' has always satisfied several needs and shaped the national idea. In this book, using selected political and historical examples, the author raises awareness of the suggestive power of political myths and proves that their effectiveness always depends on the manipulation mechanisms of prefigurative instrumentalisations. The supposedly neutral 'German Forest', as a narratively captured reality, thus develops a dangerous attraction between fiction, deception and reality.
