Blockchain technology is revolutionizing economic processes – but what does this mean for the notarial profession? This dissertation provides readers with a well-founded analysis of the impact of decentralized technologies on notarial duties in the incorporation and organization of public limited companies. It examines classical certification and verification obligations in comparison with concepts such as smart contracts and tokenization, complemented by questions of capital markets law, data protection law, and sustainability aspects. The findings indicate that blockchain technology must be given particular consideration when interpreting the professional legal norms governing the notarial profession.
