Description
his is the first historical-critical complete edition of the French composer, based on the philologically precise evaluation of all surviving sources. The edition includes score volumes with libretto and critical report; piano reductions and performance material. Jean-Baptiste Lully (1632-1687) is the most important French composer of the 17th century, whose works influenced Purcell, Bach, Handel and others. The demand for Lully scores and for performance material has grown considerably in recent years. The success of performances of the operas Atys, Roland, Armide and others, of the comédies-ballets, including Molière's most frequently performed work, Le Bourgeois gentilhomme, on many stages around the world have demonstrated the desire for an edition that meets practical and scholarly demands. This new edition meets this need.
