Description
The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe is indispensable for the shaping of a just and lasting European peace order. But its contribution to conflict prevention and crisis management, to the promotion of democracy and respect for human rights, and thus to European security, is often underestimated.
Volume 3 of the OSCE Yearbook, published in English language now in its second year, allows a deep insight into the many and diverse responsibilities and activities of the Organization. It focuses inter alia on the work of the OSCE long-term missions, current problems in the field of the human dimension, regional arms control, and the European Security Model as well as on the Vienna Review Conference and the Lisbon Summit.
All of the more than 40 authors – scholars of different disciplines as well as high-ranking politicians and diplomats, partly from within the Organization – are well-known OSCE experts and give detailed first-hand information and analysis on the OSCE covering nearly the whole range of subjects the Organizations is dealing with.
The anthology is supplemented by substantial documents as well as facts and figures on the OSCE participating States and a selected bibliography.
