OSCE Yearbook 1998

The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe is indispensable for the shaping of a just and lasting European peace order. Its contribution to conflict prevention and crisis management, to the promotion of democracy, the respect for human rights and regional arms control is often underestimated. Volume 4 of the OSCE Yearbook, published in English language now in its third year, allows a deep insight into the many and diverse responsibilities and activities of the Organization.
It focuses inter alia on the question of strengthening the OSCE in the light of NATO enlargement, the work of the OSCE missions, current problems in the field of the human dimension, regional arms control, and the European Security Model. Furthermore, it contains reports on the activities of OSCE structures and institutions. All of the more than 30 authors – scholars as well as high-ranking politicians and diplomats – are well-known OSCE experts and give detailed first-hand information and analysis on the OSCE.
The anthology is supplemented by substantial documents as well as facts and figures on the OSCE participating States and a selected bibliography.
