OSCE Yearbook 1999

The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is indispensable for the creation and maintenance of long-term peace in Europe. Its multi-faceted tasks as well as its extensive activities towards conflict prevention and settlement to promote democracy and protect human rights are the subject of almost 40 articles in this volume of the Yearbook, published for the fifth year in a row now.
The focus of this Yearbook deals with the question of OSCE perspectives after the Kosovo conflict. A great deal of attention has also been given to mission field operations as well as conflict analysis. Yet other core topics embrace the human dimension, co-operative security as well as economic co-operation and joint efforts with other organizations. The 40 international authors include well-known scholars, practitioners, politicians and diplomats, all of whom are thoroughly familiar with the OSCE as well as being experts on European security issues.
This volume also concludes with an extensive annex directed towards academic researchers and students as well as politicians, journalists and the general public.
