Parlamentarismus

Parliamentarism is a globally widespread form of the organisation and legitimation of political rule. Parliaments can be found on various political levels and in countless political systems—not only in democratic ones. This book deals fundamentally and comprehensively with this centuries-old form of organisation, which is constantly being reformed. Among other things, the history and theory of parliamentarism, the organisation and functioning of parliaments, their functions, and criticism of parliamentarism are addressed, taking into account the most recent developments and research. In the conclusion, the future of parliamentarism is considered and the contours of a ‘neo-parliamentary age’ are sketched.
