Description
The aim of the thesis is the development and evaluation of a model for the design of complex work systems using the example of patient care. The foundation of the thesis is formed by a summary of the current state of the art of complexity sciences related to work design and a system oriented analysis of patient care. The DESPINA model (DESign Principles for Balancing Complex Work Systems IN PAtient Care) was developed in line with the „system engineering” method. DESPINA describes the balancing of four potential conflict areas (planning, performance, control and resource supply) which are coupled with 15 design principles. An evaluation is undertaken for three application examples of this model: the design result („Gesundheitsdaten-Bank eG“), the design process (workshop concept „Fabrica Medica ®”) and the design competence („tool for developers“). The use of the DESPINA model opens up a diverse range of field for research in the area of complex work systems.
