Περὶ ἐπῶν δεινὸν εἶναι

This collection of mainly literary and philological essays on Plato's Protagoras demonstrates how productive a literary/philological approach in the study of Plato can be. It aims to provide the reader with
1. A new look at the literary texture of one of Plato's most literary dialogues.
2. A new insight into some philological questions concerning the direct and indirect textual tradition and the constitution of the text of Plato's Protagoras.
3. A new analysis of Plato's creation of some of the main characters in the dialogue.
4. A fresh look at the role of literary analysis in the Protagoras (especially as far as Simonides' poem to Skopas is concerned).
