Description
In Jura Soyfer’s work, polyphony originates in speech, which is duplicated and multiplied through implicit quotation. This form of polyphony does not appear as a mere diversity of juxtaposed voices, but as the interweaving of foreign discourses within the speech itself, shifting meanings and opening up historical depths. Exemplary readings of his poetry and journalistic works demonstrate the intertextual effectiveness of this approach. In this context—against the backdrop of classical modernism—Musil’s “theorem of human formlessness” stands out just as much as Soyfer’s emphatic concept of freedom as a response to Fichte’s teleological philosophy of history.
