Politik der Wahrheit

Michel Foucault's work is a political event. In his innovative re-reading of Foucault, the author reconstructs how the French philosopher, through his inquiry into the historical and ontological origins of the Western will to truth, rather unexpectedly became aware of the political significance of his critical project. After all, the discourse on truth and the resulting critical stance do not point to a natural pursuit of knowledge, but rather to the political and ethical problematization of a relationship to others shaped by cynicism. Through the subtle detour of a political history of truth, Foucault's studies thus offer a unique perspective on the phenomenon of the political.
