Politikwissenschaftliche Theorien als Erklärung der Empirie

Schools of thought in International Relations (IR) are increasingly differentiating to match with the multipolar power distribution. Yet, the newly implemented strands are facing criticism for the lack of a generally accepted systematic framework. Furthermore, there are ambiguities with regard to the possible applications and explanations for the theoretical approaches. Against this background, the KFIBS research group “International Relations Theories and Foreign Policy Research” discusses current trends and debates in IR, using selected theoretical approaches and applying them to empirical case studies to evaluate their performance.
