Politisch motivierte Gewalt

Empirical studies in the field of politically motivated violence that focus on perspectives and definitions of deviants are still lacking. The qualitative Interviews of this study with seven active members of left-winged autonomous groups show a varying picture in definitions of (politically motivated) violence and resistance. Politically motivated violence is mainly defined as counterviolence or self-defense. Group-dynamics have a major impact on how individuals act in situations of protest or resistance. Thus, the decision to exceed the limit of legitimate protest depends on experiences of violence and the tolerance of violence within the group.
