Police information cooperation within the European Area of Freedom, Security and Justice constitutes a central pillar of cross-border collaboration between law enforcement authorities. Starting from an assessment of the intensity of infringements associated with police data transfers, the thesis examines the constitutional requirements that legal bases for the transfer of police data must satisfy and the data protection standards that must be observed. This analysis is conducted using the Federal Criminal Police Office Act (BKA Act) as an example, as the Federal Criminal Police Office, in its role as a central authority for international cooperation, plays a prominent role in the exchange of data with other European police authorities.
